XPO Logistics wins reverse logistics and maintenance contract from Aldi
XPO Logistics, which acquired Norbert Dentressangle in April last year, has been awarded a multi-million pound contract by discount supermarket Aldi, to maintain and repair reusable transit packaging from its UK stores.
Around 22m plastic Aldi crates will be processed each year through XPO Logistics tray wash centres. Additionally, beverage trays, universal display pallets (UDPs), potato shippers, and fresh produce and meat shipping containers will be processed as part of the deal, which sees Aldi assets being dealt with in combination with those of other XPO clients, offering the scale-related advantages of combining volumes.
Consolidated items will be washed, inspected and returned to the supply chain, repaired when necessary at XPO’s facilities in Falkirk, Rochdale, Doncaster, Bristol and Dagenham.

Arla Foods and Rocket Consulting work on dairy of the future
Supply chain and mobility specialist, Rocket Consulting, is implementing an extended warehouse management (EWM) system for Arla Foods UK’s dairy in Aylesbury.
Part of an SAP installation, the EWM is helping Arla develop the ‘dairy of the future’, combining efficient operation with being environmentally friendly.
Opened in 2013, Arla’s Aylesbury dairy is the largest fresh milk factory in the world, processing and packaging the equivalent of 1.5 million bottles of milk a day. The EWM implementation, which covers the dispatch element of the operation, won the 2015 SAP Quality Award for Innovation and the 2015 Best Factory Award for Innovation.
MG Motor UK renews parts contract with TVS Supply Chain Solutions
Recently re-launched car marque, MG Motor UK is to renew its warehousing and inventory support services contract with TVS Supply Chain Solutions (TVS).
MG unveiled a new car, the MG6, in spring last year and has announced plans for an SUV this year. As part of its return to the market, TVS is handling parts storage and distribution for MG, via its warehouse in Longbridge, Birmingham, which is currently also being modernised.
Harvey France, head of aftersales & parts for MG, said: “MG’s parts and accessories turnover has increased 59% year on year (2014 to 2015). TVS continue to be an ideal fit for MG as we harmonise our respective skill sets to achieve and support further growth.”
