Multinational retailer Auchan is tapping into the delivery network of start-up Glovo in Romania to offer one-hour delivery.
The service is available in the 18 Romanian cities where Auchan operates.
Around 4000 products are hosted on the Glovo platform, including grocery, cosmetics and garden care. Glovo’s group of couriers collect the items from one of Auchan’s 33 hypermarkets.
The delivery cost ranges from roughly €2.50 to €3.30.
Laurențiu Furtună, e-commerce and digital director of Auchan Retail Romania, said: “We are excited to expand home delivery services through a partnership with Glovo.
“We thus continue our mission to reach consumers’ homes quickly and well, offering them a wide range of essential items, Romanian products and a comprehensive range of foods for a healthy lifestyle, at really advantageous prices.”
Built around an app, Glovo operates through a network of independent couriers called “Glovers”. The customer orders a product from any shop or restaurant, with the Glover travelling to the store, purchasing the goods and then shipping them to the customer.
It was founded in 2015 and is now available in 21 countries including Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Peru, Romania, Ecuador, Argentina and Ukraine. It has over 2.5 million active monthly users.
