A new drive through style builders warehouse is to open in Aston, Birmingham which will offer tradespeople a click and collect service in which they can drive through the unit to pick up their purchases.
The concept, BUILT/, will comprise 29,510 sq ft of trade counter space at Units 1 & 2 Bourne Road, located off Lichfield Road in Aston, within two miles of Birmingham city centre and strategically located near other national trade counter operators.
BUILT/ has named its version of click and collect lock and load and says it’s the quickest and easiest way for customers to get their building materials. With the lock and load offer customers simply drive into the warehouse entrance and their allocated collection bay and a staff member will load the customer’s vehicle with their order.
The unit has been taken on a 10-year lease with Cushman & Wakefield acquiring the units on behalf of BUILT/, whilst Darby Keye acted for the landlord, Dunedin.
Edward Kennerley, senior surveyor in Cushman & Wakefield’s national logistics & industrial team, said: “We are delighted to have secured the units on Bourne Road for this exciting new entrant to the Birmingham building supplies market. BUILT/ is currently in the process of carrying out a comprehensive capital investment to the unit in order to meet their bespoke specification.”
The concept is also likely to roll out further. “We are currently in the process of sourcing new opportunities for BUILT/ and hope to be able to make further announcements in the near future,” said Kennerley. The Aston unit is due to open in September.
