Editorial: Could boats be the answer to urban deliveries?

DeliveryX

This week eDelivery was in Amsterdam with logistics specialist DHL Express, seeing how the company is using the city’s canals to move parcels around and is already looking at replicating the same model in London. Last mile urban deliveries are an increasingly contentious issue due to their contribution to pollution and congestion, so this sort of thinking is going to be increasingly necessary to appease consumers and perhaps more pressingly, regulators.
On the same trip, DHL Express CEO John Pearson outlined how the company is hiring 50 customs specialists a week in preparation for the UK’s exit from the European Union.

Meanwhile, ASOS has launched a same-day click and collect service on Leeds university campus, as a report found click and collect is set to grow even as satisfaction rates lag those of home delivery.
