FedEx reveals new vehicle fuel efficiency target

DeliveryX

FedEx has revised its vehicle fuel efficiency goal with a pledge to increase vehicle fuel efficiency by 50% by 2025 from a 2005 baseline. It follows the company meeting its goal in the 2015 financial year of increasing vehicle fuel efficiency by 30% by 2020, which was achieved five years early.
As of 2016 FedEx had more than 2,700 alternative fuel vehicles in its fleet – an increase of nearly 44% on the previous financial year and saved more than 153 million gallons of jet fuel by a continued modernisation of its aircraft fleet and improvement in operations.

Last year the company also saved more than two million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions through fuel and energy saving initiatives across the company.
