Hermes UK is expanding capacity with the opening of a new distribution depot in Aylesford, Maidstone. The 78,794 sq ft warehouse, which will be operational later this year, will see the creation of around 50 full-time jobs and 100 part-time jobs.
The new site will be able to handle more than 220,000 parcels each day, double the amount of the previous local depot. It can also operate 24/7 if required.

To support Hermes’ ESG commitments the new depot will include EV charging as Hermes now has 30% electric vehicle ParcelShop fleet. It will also include smart lighting, rainwater harvesting, low carbon heating, solar panels and is built to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certified specifications.

Ross Wilson, depot general manager, Hermes UK, said, “We are all very excited here in Maidstone to be moving into our new home. It shows the faith the business has in Team Maidstone.”
