Irish firm An Post pledges reinvention by middle of this year

Irish delivery firm will be a new beast by the middle of this year, Liam Sheehan, sales and marketing director at An Post, told delegates at The Delivery Conference this week.
“Currently we are a mail company that delivers parcels but by the middle of this year we will be a parcel network that delivers some mail,” he said. “That will make us a very powerful force in the market.”

In October the company launched AddressPal, an address space that allows customers to create a UK delivery address for their online shopping and then collect from their nominated Post Office. Sheehan revealed that at the end of this quarter An Post will also launch ReturnPal, a new service that will allow customers to book a return up to midnight and get it collected the next day.

Once registered Sheehan said that customers could complete the returns transaction in only three clicks. “We believe this is the best returns service that is currently available,” said Sheehan. He claimed that the new solution would help the company claim 40% of the returns market within six months.

“With things like AddressPal and ReturnsPal we are looking forward to talking to our customers with a whole new story and a better set of products that allows our retailers to service customers better,” he said.
