The clock is ticking with the countdown to Amazon’s Prime Day tomorrow, which this year is set to top $3.5 billion and transform summer trading, according to ParcelHero.
Amazon too is suggesting record-breaking sales after customers ordered more than 20 million items from small businesses and entrepreneurs on Prime Day last year.
The delivery specialist believes the spend will beat Cyber Friday and Black Friday figures, and is basing its estimates on Amazon’s continued growth of $1bn every year.
ParcelHero’s head of consumer research, David Jinks, said: “Who has money to spare in late November? Prime Day’s timing is perfect and its potential is limitless; not just for Amazon Prime members, but also for eBay and the many other sites who climb aboard the Prime-Time bandwagon,” he said.
The promotional event grew from $1.5bn in 2015 to $2.5bn in 2016.
Last year shoppers also flocked to other sites too. eBay promoted discounts to tempt shoppers from Amazon whilst Macey’s site had 41% more visits on Prime Day last year, and Walmart’s was up over 20%.
“There’s little doubt that shoppers have swiftly acquired the taste for a Summer shopping extravaganza, and when they can’t find what they want on Amazon, they are happy to go on the hunt elsewhere on the web,” said Jinks.
