British kitchenware retailer Lakeland has implemented an optimisation plan from XPO Logistics, a leading provider of freight transportation services, to enhance its distribution operations.
Lakeland, a family-owned business, relies on XPO for the timely distribution of stock to approximately 60+ kitchenware and houseware store locations.
Following a comprehensive analysis in early 2022, XPO engineered a hybrid distribution solution of dedicated and shared capacity tailored to meet Lakeland’s key targets. In the first six months of optimisation — from June to November 2022 — the two companies’ joint collaboration has delivered a 104,000kg reduction in CO2 emissions from route optimisation.
The partnership has also ensured 99.5% on-time performance with deliveries to stores, with a 1.4% average savings per trip from a shared trailer model.
