Metapack has added what3words’ global location technology to its delivery management platform to help improve the delivery experience for consumers.
The technology means that each 3 metre-square area of the world has been labelled with its own what3words address – a unique combination of three words. This word combination means delivery drivers can more easily find a front door, shed or other specified safe space for delivery. what3words addresses are unique, cover the entire world and are available in 47 different languages.

The uniqueness of the addresses overcomes the challenges of not picking the right address in a drop-down menu, the large scale of zip codes and the fact that pin drops are normally in the centre of buildings, while many places, like large warehouses with multiple entrances, don’t have an accurate address, according to Metapack.

Retailers can specify a what3words location for a consignment in Metapack Delivery Manager in two ways: under the Delivery Manager Delivery tab when Creating a Delivery; or in a single API call that creates the consignment.
