As part of new research, webretailer.com has compared the delivery and returns policies of some of the largest homeware brands operating in the UK to reveal the companies with the most affordable standard delivery fees.

Its Retailer Returns Report found the cheapest standard delivery costs for homeware products out of the brands tested were found at Anthropologie, Dunelm, Oliver Bonas and The Range, which all charge an additional £3.95. Of these four brands, The Range is the only company that did not also offer a free delivery option that could be activated by spending a certain amount of money.

Meanwhile, both H&M Home and Zara Home charge a similarly fee of £3.99 for a standard delivery. However, H&M Home only requires customers to spend £20 to activate a free delivery option, whereas Zara Home insists that customers spend £50 for a free delivery.

It costs slightly more for standard delivery at both John Lewis (£4.50) and Next (£4.95). Fortunately, Next’s next day delivery charge is also £4.95, meaning that while customers may pay slightly more delivery, they are almost guaranteed to get it delivered quicker.

Homebase’s standard delivery costs ranged depending on the size of the item ordered. A small order would fetch a fee of £4.00, however having larger items delivered to your door could see costs rise to £12.50. Homebase’s free delivery activation fee was found to be £100.00.

Ikea had a similar policy when it came to standard delivery fees. Prices also started at £4.00 for small orders, however those prices were found to rise as high as £40.00 for larger orders. For Ikea customers who find those delivery fees too off putting, the famous Swedish brand offers collections in-store or from a local point, such as Tesco, for anywhere between £2.00 and free of charge.
