One in five Irish people experience delivery disasters, claims new research

DeliveryX

One in five (20%) of Irish people experience delivery disasters with their online shopping, according to research from PCA Predict. Meanwhile one in ten (12%) said it was a recurrent problem with issues experienced with up to ten of their online deliveries in the past year alone.
The research, which also suggested that 40% of Irish people now shop online at least once a month and 10% more than once a week, showed that the most common problem suffered by shoppers was late delivery. This occurred for two-thirds of customers (67%).

Other frustrations included a package being returned to sender because the consumer wasn’t at home at the time of delivery (22%), followed by receiving a damaged item (18%). 15% of Irish people also said their online purchase had been returned to its sender because the courier couldn’t actually find their address.

Who Irish shoppers blame for such problems varies. 42% said they would hold both retailer and courier for an undelivered package. 30% said they would lay blame with the courier solely and 28% would hold the retailer responsible.

Chris Boaz of PCA Predict, said: “The research really highlights the scale of Irish people regularly facing a delivery issue with their online purchase. Given Ireland’s position as one of the leading digital economies in the world today, it is worrying to find that one in ten people have had to face up to 10 problem deliveries in the last year alone.”
