Starting early next year, parcel lockers will be making their way to Jersey, in the Channel Islands.
Provided by Jersey Post, in conjunction with ByBox, the first bank of lockers will be available in January, and has already sparked interest in neighbouring island Guernsey.

Jersey, which is 85 miles off the coast of southern England and just 19 miles off the coast of France, measures 5 miles wide by 9 miles long, and has a population of 99,000.

Customers who want to use the service will need to register with Jersey Post, and provide a mobile phone number to which alerts will be sent. They will then be allocated a unique address to which items will be delivered.

Although becoming increasingly commonplace in the UK, these are the first such lockers in the Channel Islands, and Jersey Post plans a two-year roll out which will see them appearing across the island.

Tim Brown, Chief Executive of Jersey Post said: “We are very pleased to be the first company in the Channel Islands to introduce this service. It marks a major investment by Jersey Post but we believe it will prove popular with customer because of the greater convenience and flexibility that the lockers can offer in terms of location and pick up time.”
