UK Mail, which was acquired by Deutsche Post DHL last year, has announced plans to invest £1.3 million in a fully automated parcel sorting system at its national UK hub near Coventry, extending its current facility on the site.
The work is due to be completed by the end of this year and follows increased demand and will allow UK Mail to increase the hub’s handling capacity to 29,000 parcels an hour.

Richard Wenham, UK Mail’s network development director, said: “The automated system will bring many benefits to our business, as it will provide an immediate increase in handling capacity and process efficiency, but also secured our ability to support future growth.”

The acquisition of the company was completed in December with Deutsche Post DHL Group saying the acquisition would help improve cross-border services from the UK for its customers as a result.
