XPO Logistics, the company formerly known as Norbert Dentressangle, is to handle UK logistics on behalf of UK tech-toy brand, VTech.
This includes a bespoke warehouse management system, and flexible warehousing at XPO’s West Hallam shared-user facility in Derbyshire, which will be used to fulfil VTech customer orders in the UK. The site offers secure storage for over 10,000 pallets of VTech products during peak.
Paul Holding, operations director for VTech, said: “We are delighted to be working with XPO Logistics at this exciting time in our growth. The West Hallam facility’s proximity to major parcel and pallet network hubs will bring greater efficiency to our customer service infrastructure and allow for later cut-off times for orders.
“In addition to these immediate benefits, XPO Logistics has the ability to adapt quickly to our changing storage requirements, and can readily accommodate volume growth.”
XPO Logistics already fulfils on behalf of VTech operations in Europe.
Another Midlands-based logistics company with something to celebrate is the Mobile Freight Services, which has rebranded to call itself Mobile, and uses the strapline people powered logistics.
The company says it has experienced a 57% increase in turnover in the last 12 months, with headcount growing from 50 to 68, and expects a further 25% increase before the end of 2016.
The firm’s commercial director, Ian Jolly, said: “The key to a successful transport and logistics company is the people and we have a big focus on obtaining the right staff across Greater Birmingham, who will drive quality and profit to sustain future investments.
“We’ve also recently launched a graduate scheme and are currently employing two local graduates, showing our commitment to young talent in the region.”
