Turkish rapid delivery firm Getir is working with Co-op in London to provide customers with groceries quickly.

According to reports in City A.M, the trial will include Co-op stores in Battersea, Earls Court, Seven Sisters, Balham, Tottenham and Bethnal Green. Nisa Retail, Co-op group’s wholesale division, will be working with Getir to supply a range of around 300 products.

The deal would help to “meet the needs of our growing community,” Getir’s UK general manager, Kristof Van Beveren said.

“Getir is committed not only to speed and convenience but to exploring new and innovative ways to serve customers looking for a broad selection of products and everyday groceries.”

This latest collaboration follows reports earlier this month that Getir is in advanced talks to buy rival Gorillas.

It also comes after a growing number of rapid delivery partnerships were announced including between Uber Eats and Iceland, while Boots expands its quick commerce offerings with both Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

However, the rapid delivery market has been questioned recently. Getir even cut its staffing numbers by 14% this year, its rivals GoPuff and Zapp also reduced head counts by 10%. Gopuff’s co-founder Rafael Ilishayev took to LinkedIn to defended his company’s business model.
